The OSCAR Excellence Awards highlight student, faculty, and graduate student excellence in undergraduate research and creative activities.
Nominations
- Nominations can be made by Mason students (current, former, or alumni), faculty (including department chairs and administrators), and staff.
- If you are interested in nominating an outstanding faculty or graduate student mentor or an undergraduate researcher, complete the nomination form.
- Nominations must be submitted by February 18, 2025.

Faculty and Graduate Student Mentor Excellence Award
The OSCAR Mentoring Excellence Award is to recognize outstanding Mason community members who mentor undergraduate students on research and creative activities and who foster a culture of student scholarship.
All current Mason community members who have served as mentors of undergraduate researchers are eligible. These may include tenure-line faculty, term faculty, adjacent faculty, post-docs, staff, and/or graduate students. OSCAR values the wealth of diverse mentoring styles at Mason and encourages nominations from all disciplines.
Student Excellence Award
The OSCAR Student Excellence Award recognizes outstanding undergraduate students who participate in research and creative activities.
All current Mason undergraduate students are eligible. OSCAR values diverse projects examining the impact of their scholarship on the Mason and research community in their field.
Nominations for eligible students can be made by Mason students (current, former, or alumni), faculty (including department chairs and administrators), and staff.
